Thank you to our amazing alumni and faculty who joined us for the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in August 2022! IMPACT-AD had the pleasure of hosting an in-person reception on the first afternoon of the conference. For some, this represented the first opportunity to reconnect with some of the faculty present during the course and to meet those that have previously participated in the course.

CTAD 2022

Thank you to our amazing alumni and faculty who joined us for the Clinical Trials in Alzheimer’s Disease conference in San Francisco, CA. For one hour during the conference, the IMPACT-AD community had the chance to connect in-person (and enjoy a spectacular view) while discussing new cutting edge clinical trial results and more! As our alumni network expands, we are eager to see you all again for CTAD 2023.

IMPACT-AD 2020's Dr. Miranda Orr's research is highlighted in the month's issue of National Geographic.

January 2023

Miranda Orr, PhD, is an IMPACT-AD alum of the class of 2020 and is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Section on Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. The January issue of National Geographic cover story, “Living longer and better. How science could change the way we age” focuses on longevity and therefore the natural and unnatural processes surrounding aging. Dr. Orr was featured as a scientist using the latest cutting-edge technologies to reveal the intricacies of human brain aging. When exploring aging at the cellular level, it highlights Dr. Orr’s research on senescent cells in Alzheimer’s Disease. Dr. Orr’s images of human brain with senescent cells can be found in the press release by NanoString and have been taken using their CosMx SMI technology.

"Inside NIA, A Blog for Researchers" showcases IMPACT-AD.

The National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), showcases IMPACT-AD in their blog on March 1, 2023. IMPACT-AD is supported by the NIA under award numbers R25AG076392 and U13AG067696. The blog post features an alumni success story, and more about what makes IMPACT-AD a unique training opportunity. Apply by April 30, 2023 and join the next generation of AD/ADRD clinical trialists.
